UNIZIK’S 12TH CONVOCATION CEREMONY(see photos)

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka held her 12th convocation ceremony on Thursday, 22nd March 2018. The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Pro Chancellor, UNIZIK Chancellor his majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, Vice Chancellor UNIZIK, Prof Joseph Eberendu Ahaneku, Dean’s of faculties, Heads of Departments, lecturers, and dignitaries like the persons of Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, Prof Adaobi Obasi; Igwe Ezuzu of Awka Kingdom and host of others.

Prof Ahaneku addressed and commended the graduands for their journey so far and for their hard work towards the growth of this institution.

A breakdown showed that a total of 6641 were conferred with First Degree, 190 for Post Graduate Diploma, 674 Master’s Degree and 227 Doctor of Philosophy making it a total number of 7731 graduands.

The Vice Chancellor also emphasized the achievements which the school made so far which includes the selection of UNIZIK as one of the universities in Nigeria to benefit from the 2018 Rhodes Scholarship for West Africa, the selection of UNIZIK in the development of a new vision for the teaching of French language in Nigeria, UNIZIK being the winner of the Confucius Institute of the year (2017) for three consecutive years and the HSK Excellence Award, being among the participants to host the Emeka Anyaoku Institute of International Studies and Diplomacy and other numerous feats.

Furthermore, he confirmed that some of the uncompleted projects in his administration has been commissioned. They are Rehabilitation and reconstruction of the road from Elmada Hostel to the University Primary School; the rehabilitation of the Senator Joy Emordi Road; classrooms and offices for Faculty of Agriculture, Ifite Ogwari as well as Multi-Purpose Hall and offices, Faculty of Agriculture Ifite Ogwari; Student’s Hostel block C, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Agulu.

In all, a total number of 7 projects were commissioned. The best graduating students were called upon for their certificates.
